Welcome to Ngaire Ruth’s Control Room where you can find some of the best of my writing and research, from the archives and current. I’m an academic and lecturer with a particular interest in research that supports women vocalists and producers. I’ve been a feminist music critic for thirty years, starting at the Melody Maker pre-digital and post digital as section editor for thegirlsare online magazine, the F Word, and other publications. The journey has involved lots of reading of feminist and music resources, which I share in my book, Taking Control: Manifesto Of A Girl Journalist In The 90s, a current writing project.
